South Haven prepares to host holiday fun

The event will have ice skating, a lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa Claus.

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — South Haven's annual Holiday in the Park celebration is returning on Friday, Nov. 24.

Visitors can celebrate the holiday season by making s'mores around fire pits, ice skating at the Pavilion Rink, getting desserts and coffee from the Sweet Escape Truck and attending the Holiday Ornament Workshop hosted by the South Haven Center for the Arts.

Phoenix Street will be decorated for the occasion with a luminary display benefitting the Caring Circle's Hospice at Home Program.

"Many people think of South Haven as a beach town, but there is so much to explore and do here in the winter months too. Holiday in the Park is a great example of how both locals and visitors can enjoy our community in the colder months," said Jennifer Sistrunk, executive director of the South Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. there will be a holiday parade following a trail of luminaries from city hall towards the beach.

The annual lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance for photos with guests from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m.
