SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — Five children on board a South Haven Public Schools bus were hurt in a crash late Thursday morning.

South Haven Area Emergency Services said they responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and a South Haven Public Schools bus around 11:15 a.m.

The bus was a swim shuttle traveling from LC Mohr High School to North Shore Elementary.

Authorities said it happened at the intersection of Phoneix and Blue Star Highway.

About 30 elementary-age school children were on the bus at the time of the wreck, and emergency crews gave medical treatment to five children at the crash scene.

First responders said of those five children, three were taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation with minor injuries.

The remaining students on board were taken to another bus or turned over to their parents.

Crews said those inside the pickup truck were not hurt.

South Haven Area Emergency Services and the Michigan State Police are investigating the crash.
