Michigan State Police cruiser hit after minivan loses control on wet pavement

The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The trooper received minor injuries.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Michigan State Police trooper has minor injuries after their cruiser was hit by a minivan early Sunday morning near downtown Grand Rapids.

MSP said the trooper was investigating a previous crash in the northbound lanes of US-131 near Wealthy Street around 3:35 a.m. Sunday. 

While the trooper was investigating, a minivan lost control, skidded on the wet pavement and hit the cruiser, MSP said.

The driver of the minivan was taken to the hospital with a head injury and the trooper received minor injuries, MSP said.
