GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan is hosting its 22nd Annual Stomp Out Stigma 5k walk for mental health and suicide prevention in Grand Rapids this weekend.

The walk is being held on Saturday, May 18. Gathering will start at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. rain or shine.

The route starts at the GVSU Seward Parking Lot in Grand Rapids and follows the Grand Rapids Riverwalk route.

While registration for the walk is free, participants could form teams to raise money for the event. Only those who raised money will receive a t-shirt for the walk.

Currently, about $44,200 has been raised out of the $75,000 goal.

All proceeds benefit the foundation's "be nice." programs and help raise mental health awareness throughout the community. The programs help to educate students about mental illness and encourage them to work towards breaking the stigma and supporting one another.
