OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A suspect is dead and a victim is injured following a domestic assault-related incident in Grand Haven Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said they were called to the area of Retreat Drive around 3:55 p.m. on Sunday.
When they arrived, deputies said they found the victim, a 73-year-old woman, with injuries. She was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Deputies said the suspect in the incident, a 38-year-old man, is dead.
OCSO said there is no threat to the public, however, the incident is under investigation.
The sheriff's office said Monday morning the older victim was the man's mother. Detectives said they found the man with apparent self-inflicted knife wounds.
