IONIA, Mich. — Police are investigating after a fire left the fishing dock at Green View Point Park in ashes. Initially, they responded to a report of a grass fire at the park. However, when firefighters arrived on the scene they found it was not a grass fire and was the remains of a fire on the fishing dock.

The Ionia County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fire. They believe it took place overnight or early in the morning between Friday and Saturday.

Officials said they are not yet sure if the fire was set on purpose or if it was an accident and the person who caused it fled without reporting it.

Police gathered evidence at the scene which they are processing for identification of the person or persons who were present during the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ionia County Sheriff's Office at 616-527-5737 or submit anonymous tips through Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.

There is a cash reward of $1,000 being offered to anyone with information that could lead to a resolution of the case.
