If there's a teacher in your life who you think deserves some recognition, here's your chance!
13 ON YOUR SIDE Mornings is launching Teacher of the Week.
Here's how it works:
Send in your nominations to our email at news@13onyourside.com or text us at 616-559-1310. Make sure to include a short explanation of why the educator deserved to be recognized, as well as a photo.
Then every Monday, a winner will be announced.

Teacher of the Week Winners
The winner of Teacher of the Week on Jan.10 was Woodbridge Elementary School teacher Taryn Gras. She is a swimming coach-turned-teacher who was nominated for going out of her way to care for her students. Gras said that while the pandemic has been a challenge, she has tried to keep a positive learning environment.
On Jan. 17, the Winner of Teacher of the Week was Lake Hills Elementary teacher Mike Matulis. Matulis has been teaching for 16 years. He coaches Track and Field, in addition to teaching PE. While the COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges, he has used it as a chance to get his students outside and into the fresh air.
The winner of Teacher of the Week on Jan. 24 was a math teacher with Kentwood Public Schools. Molly Mosketti teaches at East Kentwood High School. Mosketti is a West Michigan native who found a love for education early on as a student. Now, she uses her classes to not only teach math but to also let her students learn more about one another.
On Jan. 31, the winner of Teacher of the Week was Allix Hutchison, first grade teacher at Georgetown Elementary School. Hutchison said she had wanted to be a teacher her entire life, following in her mom's footsteps. Now that her dreams have come true, she is creating a space for students to dream about — transforming her classroom into a pumpkin patch, an arctic tundra and more.
