GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A teen who police said was hit by a patrol car while running from officers has died.
Ven Johnson, who is representing the family, told 13 ON YOUR SIDE Riley Doggett died shortly after 10 p.m. on Thursday.
Deputies said Doggett was an occupant in what they believe was a stolen vehicle connected to several crimes in Kent County when they attempted to stop the car.
They said Doggett did not stop and a brief chase began.
Officials said Doggett and one other person then got out of the car and attempted to run while the vehicle was still in motion.
They said Doggett was hit by a deputy's vehicle and seriously injured.
On April 22, Riley's family and the family of the man hit and killed by an unmarked MSP car, Samuel Sterling, gathered in front of Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, where Riley was being treated, demanding answers about the investigation.
Sterling's death was ruled as "accidental," county officials confirmed.
