A driver, who posted a picture on Facebook from inside his flooded car, was found dead Saturday, according to family members.

The victim's sister said Darren Mitchell's body was found Saturday. He was located more than a mile away from where his truck was found.

Mitchell, 21, called to tell his family he was trapped in flood waters on Highway 105 just outside Brenham on Thursday.

"(My brother) just said he was all right and he made it out of the truck," Ro Mitchell said during the search Friday.

However, shortly after, he posted a picture on Facebook showing floodwaters rising outside his truck. He commented, "And all I wanted to do was go home."

Darren Mitchell's last Facebook post from inside his submerged truck.

Loved ones said he stopped responding to phone calls Thursday night.

Several family members gathered where Mitchell's truck was found Friday morning. They watched as first responders searched the water, and a chopper circled the scene overhead.

"I want my grandson. I want to put my hand on him. I want to know he’s here with me," Roberta Washington said.

Lashandoe Smith, who said she watched in horror when Mitchell's truck was swept into the water, filled in the blanks Friday when she returned to the scene.

"And he got out of his truck, he got in the bed of his truck, he got back out, on top of his truck, and then all of the sudden he got back in his truck. And like maybe 10 15 minutes after he was in his truck, it just flipped and he topsided into the water," Smith said as she choked back tears. "It just disappeared. Once it flipped, you didn't see tires, his truck, nothing. It just tumbled over."

One of the vehicles found upsisde down in flood waters - driver was reported missing overnight

Friday morning, relatives found his truck overturned in water near Highway 105. He wasn't inside.

Emergency crews searched by boat and helicopter, but found no sign of Mitchell. They had to call off the search Friday afternoon when another storm moved in.

Mitchell is the third person in Washington County who have died during the flood.

In Chappell Hill, a woman identified as a 64-year-old nurse drowned after she became trapped in her trailer home on Farm Road 1155.

Annie Rogers is her neighbor.

"They called somebody to go check on her, they got there she was already drowned in the water. They couldn't get in," Rogers said. "EMS was on the little boat, they could see her in there and after that, they said, 'Well, they can't get in there because she's already dead.'"

Another victim apparently had a heart attack after driving into high water, according to the Brenham Fire Department.

There were 45 high water rescues in Brenham overnight, firefighters say.
