NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — A Newaygo business was damaged early Friday morning after a car crashed into it, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said around 2:40 a.m. they were dispatched to Tiny's Tasty Treats for a crash.
According to deputies, an investigation showed that a vehicle traveling southbound on M-37 hit the raised divider on the bridge, lost control and crashed into the northwest corner of the building.
The building sustained significant damage and the driver was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, deputies said.
NCSO said the crash remains under investigation.
Tiny's Tasty Treats posted a statement on Facebook regarding the crash:
"We would like to update our customers and friends on an accident that occurred just prior to 2:51 a.m., this morning. We have only talked to dispatch through the morning and have not talked to anyone that was on the scene, however, it appears a vehicle was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, losing control while still on the bridge, spinning around, hitting the Northwest side of our building. First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are for the driver of the vehicle. The building can be repaired, and will be repaired. For those that want to say the building is too close to the street, please be kind. Over the years, the road was brought to the building. We have viewed a video of this accident, and it appears the vehicle lost control and traveled a long way before hitting the building. This could have happened to any business located along M37/State Street. Again, our thoughts and prayers for the driver of the vehicle."
The business also took to Facebook to thank everyone who has already reached out to them offering their support.
