KENTWOOD, Mich. — New details have been released on the title champ-winning UFC fighter from the Grand Rapids area who was arrested in late November.
Jamahal Hill, a Rogers High School grad and former Davenport basketball player, is facing aggravated domestic violence charges.
Hill was arrested in Kentwood on Monday, Nov. 27 around 1 a.m. He was arraigned that same day and released at 7:35 p.m., police say.
Court documents released to 13 ON YOUR SIDE say Hill assaulted his brother, James Hill Jr., on Saturday, Nov. 25 at a home on Quaker Hill Court SE.
James told police he was in an argument with his brother when Hill punched him, knocking him to the ground. When he got back onto his feet, his brother once again punched him to the ground.
Officers say the left side of James' face was "very swollen" and he was missing a front tooth when they arrived.
Hill beat Glover Teixera in a unanimous decision in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 283 on Jan. 21, earning him the Light Heavyweight title. He vacated the title in June after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
His pretrial meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22, 2024.
