GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Gerald R. Ford International Airport is preparing for record-breaking holiday travel this Thanksgiving.
According to airport officials, Thanksgiving traffic for 2024 is expected to see a 5% increase compared to 2023, and an 8% increase compared to 2022.
The airport estimates there will be more than 148,000 passengers traveling from Nov. 22 to Dec. 4, with the peak departure day falling on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The busiest return day for passengers is expected to be on Sunday, Dec. 1.
The airport said the top Thanksgiving destinations are Orlando, Punta Gorda, St. Pete–Clearwater/Tampa, Sarasota, Phoenix, Austin, Denver and Philadelphia.
