Trump campaign office opens in Kalamazoo area

Congressman Bill Huizenga headlined the office opening, highlighting the importance of Republican support in the Kalamazoo area.

PORTAGE, Mich. — Dozens showed up Tuesday night for the opening of the Trump Force 47 Kalamazoo Office.

Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-4th District) headlined the office opening and highlighted the importance of Republican support in the Kalamazoo area.

"We know that this is a bit more of a battleground area, and I think it was very wise for the Trump organization to come in and say, 'we're going to plant our stake right here.' And guess what folks, that means it's a belief in you," said Huizenga.

Huizenga also emphasized the need for a Republican majority in the House and Senate in order to support Former President Donald Trump if he were to win.

Pastors Scott and Alicia Nelson at nearby New City Church started the night off in prayer.

Alicia Nelson told 13 ON YOUR SIDE, "I feel like the local support is really important, just the groundswell and the grassroots and the support just here right in the Kalamazoo area."

She said a campaign hub in the area is needed and passion is heightened compared to this time in the last presidential election.

"Kalamazoo is an important area I feel like, it's more left leaning, so it's good to just see, the Republicans come out and, of course, Michigan is a really critical state in this election, and so that's one of the reasons why we're getting in there," said Nelson.

The crowd wrapped up the night with campaign training.
