GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Former president Donald Trump is coming to Grand Rapids on Tuesday. And he comes with an agenda.
Trump will be at the Grand Rapids Convention Center, located at 303 Monroe Avenue NW, on Tuesday, April 2 at 2:30 p.m.
He will deliver remarks about the murder case of Ruby Garcia, a 25-year-old Grand Rapids woman who was shot and killed on March 22.
Brandon Ortiz-Vite, 25, admitted to shooting Garcia multiple times in her car and then leaving her for dead on US-131. He turned himself in days later with blood on his clothes, court documents detail.
Ortiz-Vite and Garcia were in a romantic relationship, Kent County Prosecutor Christopher Becker described Garcia's death as "the ultimate, worst case domestic violence scenario."
He was in the United States illegally, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. An ICE spokesperson said Ortiz-Vite is from Mexico, and he was previously deported in 2020. At some point, he reentered the United States.
Trump called the situation "Biden's Border Bloodbath" in a press release.
"Joe Biden's Violent Criminal Illegals are invading backyards and communities across Michigan resulting in death, destruction, and chaos," the release continued.
