GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE UPDATE: Michigan State Police is investigating a firearms discharge incident involving a Grand Rapids Police officer after he unintentionally fired his weapon.  

Daevionne Smith, who said he was nearly struck by the bullet during the incident, is calling for the officer and department to be held accountable because he claims he could've been killed. 

CRUMBLEY PARENTS IN COURTThe parents of a Michigan teen charged with killing four students at his high school are scheduled to return to court on charges of involuntary manslaughter. 

A probable cause conference is scheduled Tuesday for James and Jennifer Crumbley. 

CAR INSURANCE REFUNDSMichigan drivers with auto insurance will be receiving a $400 refund check no later than May 9, 2022, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Monday. Drivers will receive one check per vehicle.

The Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) voted to support Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's call to issue refunds to drivers in early November after reporting a $5 billion surplus.

NASSAR SETTLEMENT: The legal wrangling between USA Gymnastics and the victims of sexual abuse by former national team doctor Larry Nassar, among others, is over.

A federal bankruptcy court in Indianapolis on Monday confirmed a $380 million settlement between USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the hundreds of victims, ending one aspect of the fallout of the largest sexual abuse scandal in the history of the U.S. Olympic movement.
