MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — One woman is dead following a Sunday morning crash in Mecosta Township, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 9 a.m. to a two-car crash at the intersection of 8 Mile Road (M-20) and Old State Road.

According to deputies, a 32-year-old woman from White Cloud was traveling eastbound on 8 Mile Road approaching Old State Road and a 27-year-old woman from Tustin was traveling northbound on Old State Road.

The Tustin woman came to a stop at the stop sign, then proceeded through the stop sign and failed to yield to oncoming eastbound traffic, deputies said. The White Cloud woman then hit the Tustin woman on the driver's side.

Deputies said the Tustin woman has been identified as Catherine Brinks, who died instantly in the crash.

The White Cloud woman was taken to a local hospital for her injuries, troopers said.
