COLORADO, USA — Two young siblings who last week were taken by their parents who police said have a history of drug use and violent tendencies have been found and are safe, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

An alert from CBI said the 9- and 7-year-old children were last seen in Battle Creek, Michigan on Jan. 28. Law enforcement had reason to think they might be in Colorado.

On Tuesday, Battle Creek detectives tracked the family to a location in Nebraska and alerted Nebraska State Police (NSP). They were located and pulled over while driving on Interstate 80 in Nebraska around 2 p.m.

Rebecca Dunkelberger, the children's mother, was arrested on unrelated warrants, according to police. The siblings' father was not charged with any crimes.

Police said the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is working with NSP to bring the kids back to Michigan. They said there will then be a court hearing to determine custody.
