BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — Traffic on northbound US 31 near the state lane is being rerouted due to a fiery crash Tuesday afternoon.

The Michigan State Police Niles Post said the wreck involving a semi-truck and a box truck happened around 1 p.m.

It appears the semi-truck was headed northbound when it hit the box truck. MSP said the box truck is a contractor for the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Police said no one was seriously hurt, but you're asked to avoid the area for now.

The northbound lanes at mile marker 2 are shut down for the time being while crews work to process the wreckage and clean up the mess.

Crews are rerouting traffic to a nearby rest stop for the time being.
