VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly driving a moped while drunk and fleeing from deputies.

Van Buren County deputies were alerted of a suspected drunk driver around 4:45 p.m. after a witness saw a man trying to get back on his moped after falling off.

Deputies arrived to the intersection of County Road 687 and 72nd Avenue and later found the man driving on the moped. Deputies attempted to stop him but he refused, reportedly reaching speeds of 35 mph during the chase.

The man eventually turned into a private drive and was taken into custody.

He is now being lodged at the Van Buren County Jail.

This incident is still under investigation.
