LOWELL, Mich. — The Veen Observatory in Lowell has canceled its first Public Observing Night of 2024 due to cloudy weather forecasts.

The Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association commented on the Grand Rapids Public Museum's Facebook post about the event, and made a post on their own page, to say that it has been canceled.

However, they hope for clear skies at the next observing night on May 18.

At the events, guests can gaze up into the sky through the observatory's telescopes and personal telescopes brought by members of the GRAAA.

Guests will also be able to watch a video presentation about GRAAA's history.

The Veen Observatory is located at 3308 Kissing Rock Avenue SE in Lowell.

Admission to the event is $5 for adults, $3 for kids under 18 and free for kids under five years old, GRAAA and Grand Rapids Public Museum members.
