GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A threat made against Vista Charter Academy has prompted the school to close on Thursday, according to Wyoming police.

Police said they are working with school staff to investigate the threat. It is unclear what the nature of the threat was.

"While many school threats are often found not to be true, Wyoming Police and school administrators take all of these threats seriously," reads a statement from police. "The Wyoming Police Department strives to provide a safe community for all."

This is the latest threat to impact a West Michigan school this fall. Since the start of September, a slew of schools in West Michigan and across the state have investigated threats. Some schools closed for investigation.

The districts of Comstock, Mona Shores, Grandville, Jenison, Three Rivers, Byron Center, East Kentwood, Northview, Forest Hills and Newaygo have all addressed threats made this fall. The West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science also closed due to a threat last week.

In addition, a teen who called in a threat against Mona Shores is facing charges, along with three high school students who made threats against South Lyon East High School.

If you have any information about this threat, you're asked to contact Wyoming police at 616-530-7300, Silent Observer or OK2SAY.
