OTTAWA COUNTY, Michigan — A 32-year-old motorcyclist is in the hospital after authorities said he hit a patch of loose material on the road and crashed into the guardrail just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
His passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Walker, was also hurt.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said the pair on their Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed east on Port Sheldon Street from Chicago Drive when the wreck happened.
After hitting the guardrail, the motorcycle was laid down on the road and both were tossed from the bike.
The 32-year-old Walker motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital for treatment, while the passenger was treated for minor injuries at the crash scene.
Authorities said neither person was wearing a helmet.
