WALKER, Mich. — The City of Walker Police and Fire Departments hosted their second annual Walker Safety Day and Community Cookout on Saturday afternoon.
The event focuses on safety education and is also a fundraiser for the Walker Police and Fire Departments at the parking lot of the Walker Ice and Fitness Center.
Families got to watch the fire department show vehicle extraction demonstrations, meet and greet with Walker Police about their drone program, and get free bike safety flags courtesy of Riding Ryan.
Injury specialists from Helen DeVos Children's Hospital were also there to talk about bike safety.
Gun locks were also on hand for those who wanted them.
Sobie Meats and Squirrels 2 BBQ served up hot dogs, pulled pork, chicken thighs and jambalaya.
In the past, Sobie Meats hosted the Community Cookout, and those proceeds helped buy equipment for both departments.
