Walker salon hosts 'Pamper Me Pink' event for women affected by cancer

WALKER, Mich. — A Walker Hair Salon hosted a special event raising money for women affected by cancer Monday night.

Alpine Hair and Day Spa on Alpine Avenue near 6 Mile Road hosts its "Pamper Me Pink" event every year.

During the event, visitors get select services at a discount. Those services include haircuts, facials and pedicures.

All proceeds go to the Walker-based non-profit "Beautiful You," which provides free salon and spa services to women battling cancer.

"It's pretty near and dear to my heart, because it is their time to just forget and get pedicures," said salon owner Dawn Szczepanski. "They get facials, massages, they get anything, you know, and usually two services they get. It's an awesome program, and the girls that set that up worked really hard to put this nonprofit together for the same reason, because of all of us being affected with somebody we know in our life that we've loved, that have cancer."

Along with Monday night's event, you can also schedule services for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
