DETROIT — Ice Guru Events, a premier ice sculpture and entertainment service in Grand Rapids, is celebrating the Tigers postseason in a special way.

Commissioned by the team, the company made full-size ice sculptures and carved pumpkins themed around the Detroit Tigers.

The ice sculptures include the Tigers logo, the MLB logo and the postseason logo. There are also 3D tiger faces that appear to be lunging out of the sculpture.

Randy Finch, a worker with Ice Guru Events, said the sculptures and pumpkins can be found throughout the clubhouse, downstairs in the Players Club and at different parties.

"So the benefits of the Tigers winning are spreading all the way over here to West Michigan," Finch said. "...With the Tigers winning this year, we're benefiting financially, and we get to be part of this great event called postseason."

Finch said they've been making ice sculptures for the Tigers for around 20 years.

"As long as we've been in business, we've done their postseason work, and now we've expanded that into pumpkins," he said.

Finch said Ice Guru Events is excited to be given the chance to continue to be a part of that Motor City pride.

"So we've done ice sculptures for both the Tigers and the pistons and also the Red Wings," he said. "And so it's something that we're really proud of to bring some of that Detroit pride over to West Michigan."

For those interested in seeing the Ice Gurus in action, Finch said the company will be at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids on Oct. 31. They'll be giving away free pumpkins, doing live pumpkin carving and giving pumpkin carving lessons.
