Where you can go to get warm during winter weather

Multiple places in Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon County are opening their doors to whoever may need it in the storm.

MICHIGAN, USA — As West Michigan prepares for the upcoming winter storm, it's important to know where you can go to get warm. 

Whether you lost power or you just need a roof over your head for the night, there are places you can go to stay warm and safe. 

Kent County:

  • Alano Club of Kent County
    • 1020 College Avenue NE
    • Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    • Saturday through Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Degage
    • 139 Sheldon SE
    • Warming center open daily 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
      • Suspensions remain in place during these hours
    • Suspensions and curfew will be lifted for overnight emergency shelter
  • Mel Trotter

    • Warming center open daily 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Emergency shelter open daily 4 p.m. to 7 a.m.
    • Curfew is 7 p.m. unless documentation of reason
