MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — The City of Montague, Muskegon, Muskegon Heights and North Muskegon have all postponed trick-or-treating on Halloween due to heavy snow conditions that pose a safety threat to kids.
The City of Montague will host their make-up trick-or-treat on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Muskegon's City Manager told 13 ON YOUR SIDE that Trick-or-Treating has been rescheduled due to the weather. Trick or treating in Muskegon will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Muskegon Heights said they will host trick-or-treating on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
The City of North Muskegon sent an alert Tuesday afternoon that they were canceling trick-or-treating to "protect the health and safety of trick-or-treaters and their parents" as heavy snow is causing tree limbs to fall on power lines.
More than 35,000 Consumers Energy customers are without power in Muskegon County. That's about 37% of customers in the area.
Power officials say the weather is to blame. Heavy snow and wind are impacting power lines.
Multiple wires are down, and Muskegon area firefighters and emergency crews are responding.
If you see any wires down, stay away.
Road conditions are also slick, and first responders along the lakeshore are seeing multiple slide-offs and fender-benders.
