Wife performs CPR for the first time and saves husbands life during heart attack, community now rallying to help with medical bills

September 27th may be one of the scariest days of Lisa Price and Stephan Huss' lives.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — September 27th maybe one of the scariest days of Lisa Price and Stephan Huss' lives.

"I heard a really bizarre noise, and came into the dining room where he had collapsed on the floor," said Lisa. "And he was not breathing, he was not conscious. So I called 911."

At around 3:00 p.m., after finding her husband unconscious on the floor, Lisa made a quick call to 911. The dispatcher then informed her to start doing chest compressions, something she's never done before.

"I just followed her directions, and just quickly went to work," said Lisa. "And I got him gasping for air"

Doorbell video shows firefighters and EMT's showing up to the house around three minutes after the call was made.

"Within three to four minutes, we had like 20 people in our house working on him," said Lisa.

Stephan has always lived a healthy lifestyle and is frequently active. It came as a shock to the couple to learn he had a massive heart attack.

Spending around a week in the hospital, doctors found that his lower left artery was fully blocked. He's feeling better, though his ribs are still a little tender from the lifesaving CPR.

"I'm so thankful to be here," said Stephan. "I've really feel pretty good. I mean, all things considered, I feel really good."

However, they now face a new challenge: paying the medical bills.

"So we actually don't have that grand total yet, which is kind of horrifying," said Lisa.

Friends have set up a fundraising art auction, with donated pieces going towards paying off those bills.

"They're all rallying for us," said Lisa. "There's about 30 artists participating, really talented artists."

In the end, they're happy to be together once again.

And Lisa shares some important things she's learned through it all.

"Definitely take CPR," said Lisa. "As long as you can get compressions going on somebody, it can make a huge difference."

That silent auction will take place at the River North Public House off of Plainfield in Grand Rapids from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
