Witness recalls crash in front of Grand Rapids airport that left 6 injured

A woman who was working near the scene said she saw the exact moment two cars collided in front of the Gerald R. Ford Airport.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — When she was able, Natasha Krause left her post for a few minutes to check on the six victims of Thursday's dangerous crash just steps away from the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

"My first instinct was to run over there, but I couldn't because of my job," said Krause.

Deputies said a car of four teenagers and a car of two adults collided with each other around 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.

Krause said that after the crash one of the cars caught on fire.

"The red car went into flames right away," said Krause. "I seen them put out the flames."

All six who were involved in the crash were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, something Krause said she also witnessed firsthand.

"I got to speak with one of the persons who were in the accident, because I noticed he had blood on him and made sure that he was okay, he said yes, but I know he went into the hospital afterwards," said Krause.

Right now the Kent County sheriff's office says they're still investigating who is at fault.
