Woman seriously injured in Mecosta County crash, airlifted to Grand Rapids hospital

Deputies said a woman was taken to a Big Rapids hospital before being airlifted to Grand Rapids for major life-threatening injuries.

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — A woman was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids overnight after receiving major life-threatening injuries in a crash, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office. 

MCSO said around 2 a.m. on Sunday, deputies and Michigan State Police were dispatched to a crash on 30th Avenue and Arthur Road in Wheatland Township. 

Deputies said a 47-year-old Florida man was traveling northbound on 30th Avenue and a 34-year-old Howard City woman was traveling eastbound on Arthur Road. 

MCSO said the woman ran the stop sign and collided with the man. 

The woman was taken to a Big Rapids hospital before being airlifted to Grand Rapids for major life-threatening injuries, deputies said. 

MCSO said the man was checked on the scene and released. 

The crash is still under investigation.
