Woman arrested for OWI after fatally striking pedestrian in Grand Rapids

The man was hit by a woman driving northbound. Two other cars were also involved in the crash, hitting the first car from behind.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police say a man is dead Friday night after he was struck by a car on Kalamazoo Ave SE at Amberly Avenue.

The male pedestrian was hit by a woman driving northbound. Two other cars were also involved in the crash, hitting the first car from behind.

The man was brought to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The drivers of the second and third cars had minor injuries according to Grand Rapids Police.

The woman driving the first car was arrested for driving while intoxicated (OWI). She was not injured in the crash.
