GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Thursday afternoon Molly Martinez and her boyfriend were driving down US-131 in Grand Rapids when they noticed a tire come loose from a truck in front of them.
"We saw the truck that was in front of us with a trailer, they got off on the exit," said Martinez. "As they were getting off, I watched a tire come loose and just started rolling across the freeway."
Martinez said her boyfriend slowed down immediately and got in between two lanes to try to signal to other drivers to slow down as well.
"It just kept going," Martinez said. "I was surprised, you can hear me in the video saying 'why is it just rolling like that?' Which was so dumb, but what I meant to say was why is it still going?"
Martinez explained that the tire rolled for a while before she even thought to get out her phone and start recording.
"We were really scared that other cars were going to hit it," said Martinez.
Thankfully, nobody hit the tire. It ended its roll by hitting a red truck that was pulled over on the side of the freeway.
"I am just glad that everyone's okay," said Martinez.
