HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — A West Michigan woman ordered her dog to attack her boyfriend during an argument Memorial Day weekend, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said.
Some neighbors in the 5000 block of Chestnut Court in Hudsonville called the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office on Saturday, May 25 to reports of a man covered in blood.
Authorities said a man was covered in blood and showed up at a neighbor's home asking for help just before 2 a.m. because he had been bitten by a dog.
Investigators believe the 41-year-old victim lived nearby and got into a "domestic argument" with 37-year-old Augustina Villarreal from Hudsonville.
The woman ordered her dog to attack the man, and the dog bit him numerous times on the arms, deputies said.
He was able to get away from the attacking dog by escaping through a window. He went to another neighbor for help.
Emergency responders took him to the hospital for treatment, and his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
Law enforcement arrested Villarreal on domestic assault and felonious assault charges.
She was arraigned on Tuesday in 58th District Court on the felonious assault with a dangerous weapon charge.
The judge gave her a $100,000 bond, and she remains in the Ottawa County Jail.
The sheriff's office said Animal Control also investigated this attack and took the dog on Tuesday. The dog is being held pending the completion of the investigation.
Authorities are still looking into the altercation and ask anyone with information to call the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT (745368) or mosotips.com.
