LANSING, Mich. — A Coldwater woman won a $150,000 Powerball Prize from the Michigan Lottery.
Brandy Bowditch, 39, matched four white balls and the Powerball – 47-54-57-60-65, PB: 19 – in the drawing on Oct. 7 winning a $50,000 prize. A Power Play then multiplied her win to a whopping $150,000.
The Power Play option multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to reach a maximum of $2 million and can be added to any Powerball play for $1.
Bowditch bought her winning ticket at PS Food Mart on West Chicago Street in Coldwater.
“I buy two Powerball tickets every week, and I always check them at my favorite store after the drawing,” Bowditch said. “I scanned my ticket and got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, so I handed my ticket to the clerk and asked what was going on with it. She looked the ticket over and told me I must have won big."
She said she wasn't the only one who was shocked when she found out.
“I checked the winning numbers on the Lottery app and was shocked when I realized the ticket was worth $150,000. When I told the clerk what I’d won, she yelled: ‘$150,000?!’ Neither of us could believe it," Bowditch said.
Bowditch said she plans to pay off her home, pay her bills and then save the remainder of her winnings.
The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and may be watched live online here. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
