MUSKEGON, Mich. — A Muskegon woman is preparing to pay off her debt after taking home a $500,000 prize from the Michigan Lottery.

The 64-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning 777 Jackpot ticket at the McCormick gas station in Whitehall.

She said she hadn't bought a lottery ticket in a while, and felt the urge to buy one. That spontaneous decision is now changing her life.

“I scratched the ticket when I got home, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I revealed a $500,000 prize!" she said. "I told my husband the good news by showing him my winning ticket."

The player recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. She plans on paying off her bills and putting the rest in her savings.

“Winning this prize will allow me to become debt free, and that is going to be a great feeling!” she said.

777 Jackpot was launched in August. Each ticket costs $5, and players can win prizes ranging from $5 to $500,000. Michigan Lottery officials say there are still two $500,000 prizes available to win.
