GLADSTONE, Mich. — A 30-year-old Upper Peninsula woman plays the lottery every day with hopes of winning $5,000.
Her game is the Daily Spin to Win game.
When she won a $20 coupon, she took it to the North Bluff Grocery in Gladstone to buy another lottery ticket.
She asked the store clerk what she should buy, and the woman behind the counter suggested the new $2,000,000 Cash Multiplier game.
That turned out to be sound advice.
The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, found it hard to believe her scratch-off ticket was real.
“I scratched the ticket when I got home and had a hard time believing it was real when I saw I won $2 million. I called my dad, and he told me to take it to the retailer to double-check it. When the retailer confirmed it was a winning ticket, I called my dad screaming as soon as I got in my car," she said.
The winner recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize.
She decided to go with the lump sum payment of $1.3 million instead of the annuity payments for the full amount.
The woman plans to pay off her bills and invest.
Michigan Lottery said players have won more than $12 million playing the $2,000,000 Cash Multiplier, which launched in December. Each $20 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $2 million. More than $84 million in prizes remain, including two $2 million top prizes, 18 $20,000 prizes, and 183 $2,000 prizes.
In 2022, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers across the state.
