A major winter storm will make for a very difficult day across West Michigan. Conditions will gradually begin to improve Monday evening. However, some of the coldest air in years is possible around midweek.
Several inches of snow is likely throughout West Michigan. Areas north of I-96 will likely see the most, with isolated areas seeing for than foot.
Winds will compound the misery. The combination of snow and wind will create major visibility concerns.
Dangerous temperatures and wind chills will accompany the snow. The combination of strong winds and low wind chills mean that frostbite could occur in a matter of minutes.
The coldest air in years is possible starting Tuesday. Arctic air will pour south behind a front. Highs Wednesday might not reach 0°. If this occurs, it will be the first time with sub-zero highs in Grand Rapids since 1996.
