KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Two people were killed Monday evening in a single-vehicle crash on 14 Mile Road near Tefft Avenue in Kent County.
Police say the crash happened just before 6 p.m. A 21-year-old Wyoming man was driving recklessly on 14 Mile Road when he passed a semi-truck on the right shoulder. Police say he lost control of the vehicle, drove off the road and struck a tree.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female passenger was critically injured and transported to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
14 Mile Road was closed for several hours due to the crash, but is now open to traffic.
This crash remains under investigation.
