AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - Artist Benjamin Lloyd didn't know his Facebook post would strike a cord with people. He posted a photo of himself giving an airbrushed, temporary tattoo to a child and wrote, "50 likes and [I'll] go to starship hospital and tat all the kids up." That Facebook post has more than 469,000 likes.
"Well it looks like [I'm] off to starship," he wrote as a follow-up.
Since then, Lloyd's photos and videos of him airbrushing tattoos onto children have gone viral, with hundreds of thousands of likes and shares on his Facebook page.
So far, he's visited Starship Chidren's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, and IHC, an organization that advocates for the rights of developmentally delayed individuals. Benjamin Lloyd says on his Facebook page that his temporary tattoos boost confidence, and provide smiles to people who need it most.
Lloyd has been raising money online so he can continue "to create smiles to those in need."
