WASHINGTON — More than 300,000 dual-basket air fryers sold at several major retailers nationwide have been recalled due to a burn hazard.
Empower Brands is voluntarily recalling two models of its PowerXL Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers, according to the recall notice.
The affected air fryers have two baskets that can be used separately or combined into a larger single basket. According to the recall, the plastic U-Channel connector used to combine the two baskets can break during use, posing a burn hazard.
The company said it has received 41 reports of the air fryers breaking during use, including three reports of consumers suffering burns as a result.
The recall applies to air fryer models PowerXL DUAF-10 and DUAF-005, which were sold at Target, Walmart, Kohls and other stores nationwide and online from Aug. 2021 to Oct. 2023. The model should be listed on the rating label located on the bottom of the unit or on a tag attached to the power cord.
If your air fryer is part of the recall, stop using it immediately, and call 866-704-9370 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Central Time, Monday through Friday, or visit www.prodprotect.com/recall/dualbasket for information about receiving a full refund.
According to the recall website, those who register online will receive their refund in the form of a prepaid virtual Mastercard. Those who would prefer a check should call the recall assistance helpline toll-free at 1-866-704-9370.
