Muskegon-native dies saving 2 children from Florida rip current

His wife Laura said her husband never hesitated to help.

NAVARRE, Fla. — A Muskegon native died rescuing two children caught up in rough surf in Florida.

It happened at Navarre Beach Saturday, March 24.

According to a relative who still lives in Muskegon, Michael Robidoux drowned when he was pulled out by a rip current after he saved two children.

His wife Laura told our ABC affiliate, WEARTV, her husband never hesitated to help.

Robidoux was a 1988 Muskegon High School graduate.

He was an Eagle Scout, retired military pilot, a 23-year veteran in the Air Force and a pilot for Delta Airlines.

The life guards at the beach had left for the day when the drowning happened.
