GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Election day is here!
Michiganders are lining up at polling locations throughout the state to cast their votes in the 2023 local general election on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
The polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
These elections will include mayoral races, school and library millages and bonds, as well as city council races and races for other local government positions.
Most of the races in this local general election are non-partisan.

Important Races in West Michigan
- Alpine Township Rezoning
- Voters will decide on rezoning a section of Alpine Township to build a 500+ unit development.
- East Grand Rapids School Bond
- Voters will decide on a bond for East Grand Rapids School District that would fund an addition to the high school, as well as extensive renovations.
- Grand Haven Board of Light and Power
- Voters will elect two candidates to the Board of Light and Power from a field of four.
- Grand Haven Charter Amendment
- Voters will decide whether or not to dissolve the Board of Light and Power and give its authority to the City Council.
- Grand Haven City Council
- Voters will decide on two city council members among a field of four candidates.
- Grand Haven Mayor
- Voters will decide on the next Mayor of Grand Haven after the incumbent was ousted in the August primary.
- Holland Mayor
- Voters will decide on the next Mayor of Holland from a two-candidate field.
- Jamestown Township Library Millage
- Voters will decide whether or not to renew a millage for the library. If defeated the library could close its doors for good.
- Kent District Library Millage Renewal
- Voters in Kent County will decide on whether or not to renew a library millage for KDL at a lower rate than in years past.
- Muskegon Heights Mayor
- Voters will decide on the next Mayor of Muskegon Heights from a field of four candidates.
- Ravenna Bonds for Blackmer Road
- Voters will decide whether or not to approve a bond that will repair Blackmer Road. If defeated, the road could revert to gravel.
- White River Township Supervisor
- Voters will decide on the next supervisor of White River Township from a field of two candidates.

You can register to vote on election day at your clerk's office with proof of residency until 8 p.m.
You have until 8 p.m. on Nov. 7 to return your absentee ballot to your designated drop box or local clerk’s office by hand.
