VP candidate JD Vance hosts rally in West Michigan

Vance is expected to deliver remarks at 5:30 p.m. at Berlin Raceway in Marne.

MARNE, Mich. — Fresh off the debate stage Tuesday night, Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance is hosting a campaign event in key swing state Michigan Wednesday afternoon.

His first Michigan stop on Wednesday is in the northern Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills.

Then Vance will travel to West Michigan for another rally just outside of the greater Grand Rapids area.

Vance is expected to deliver remarks at 5:30 p.m. at Berlin Raceway in Marne, according to former President Donald Trump's campaign.

Key talking points Vance will cover include tackling inflation and other economic issues.

Doors open for supporters with tickets at 3:30 p.m.

Berlin Raceway and Entertainment Complex is located in Ottawa County about 13 miles from Grand Rapids.

The Trump and Harris campaigns have had a flurry of Midwest events leading up to the November general election.

Mike Rogers, a Republican running for U.S. Senate in Michigan against U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, said a Trump administration will make things more affordable for Michiganders.

"Following a commanding debate performance, Senator Vance is back in Michigan today showing how he and President Trump will make America affordable again. The Democrats' reckless tax and spend policies are forcing working class families to live paycheck to paycheck. Michigan deserves better than four more years of Slotkin and Harris, with Trump and Vance we'll Get America Back on Track," Rogers said in a statement.

Ahead of Vance's visit, Congresswomen Hillary Scholten and Haley Stevens hosted a joint Grand Rapids news conference denouncing the Trump-Vance agenda.

"JD Vance is back in Michigan today trying to sell Donald Trump's empty promises to Michiganders once again, but we aren't buying it. He makes the contrast in this election abundantly clear," Scholten said. "you have Donald Trump and JD Vance who will ship our jobs to China in a heartbeat, line the pockets of their billionaire donors and leave working people out to dry."

Vice President Kalama Harris plans campaign stops in Wisconsin and Michigan later this week, including a rally in Flint, Michigan on Friday.
