GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — America has chosen the 47th president—former President Donald Trump will return to the Oval Office for another term, making him the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms and the first felon to become president.

As a swing state, all eyes were on Michigan throughout the election cycle. The state's 15 electoral votes were seen as crucial to both campaigns. While Michigan has not yet been called, the Associated Press shows it is leaning toward Trump.

In the last few election cycles, Kent County has been considered a bellwether county, meaning the county generally votes for who will become the next president. This was true in 2016 when the county went red for Trump, and again in 2020 when voters overwhelmingly chose President Joe Biden.

How did Kent County vote this year?

According to the AP's election data, Kent County voted for Vice President Kamala Harris by a wide margin, 51.5% to 46.7%, differing from the outcome of the presidential race.
