MICHIGAN, USA — Michiganders headed to the polls on Tuesday, Aug. 6 to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary election.
In the Republican primary, two congressional candidates for Michigan's 3rd District wanted to represent their party on the ballot in November's general election.
Entrepreneur Michael Markey went head-to-head with West Michigan attorney Paul Hudson.
In a close race, Hudson took home the victory.
Michigan's 3rd Congressional District is comprised of Kent, Muskegon and Ottawa counties, and includes the cities of Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Grand Haven.
The winning candidate will face off against their Democratic opponent, as well as any other third-party challengers.
Hudson will face off against Democratic opponent Hillary Scholten, as well as any other third-party challengers, in the November election.
