GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The general election in Michigan is Tuesday, Nov. 7! If you're looking for a way to get to the polls, The Rapid is offering free rides to and from the voting booth.

The Rapid says to take advantage of their service, follow these steps:

  1. Visit ridetherapid.org to get transit directions using the trip planner.
  2. When you board the bus, tell your driver "I am going to vote."
  3. They'll take you for a fare-free ride to cast your ballot.
  4. On your return trip, tell your driver "I just voted and need a ride home."

The bus covers most of the Grand Rapids area and part of Ottawa County. You can check the bus routes online here.

The Rapid is encouraging West Michiganders to check online to ensure they are registered to vote and know where their polling place is. You can do that and see what's on your ballot here.

In Kent County, voters will be deciding on a millage to support the Kent District Library, multiple millages and bond proposals for school districts and a rezoning ordinance in Alpine Township. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

You can find more information on The Rapid's free rides to the polls here.
