OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Ottawa County voters said "yes" to three millage proposals Tuesday night.

Michigan's presidential primary election had more than just the Democratic or Republican primary election on some ballots in the county.

Three millage proposals were presented to voters in Ottawa County Tuesday night.

Allendale Public Schools Operating Millage Renewal Proposal

Voters that live inside of the Allendale Public School District, voted to extend an existing millage from 2025 to 2028. The millage proposal was on non-homestead properties, which are not primary residences, at a rate of 20.7795 mills (or $20.7795 per $1,000 of taxable value).

The millage will only be levied at the state allowed rate of 18 mills. The extra 2.7795 mills will only be authorized by a Headlee Amendment rollback. The requirement for that is when annual growth on existing property is greater than the rate of inflation.

Park Township Local Street Repair and Maintenance Millage Renewal and Increase

Voters in six Ottawa County precincts decided to renew and increase a millage to fund road repair, resurfacing, improvement, construction and reconstruction.

The millage will be levied at .5 mills over a five year period from 2024 through the end of 2028.

Wright Township Fire Protection Millage Proposal

Voters in Wright Township decided to renew a fire protection millage through 2027. The previously voted on millage was levied at a rate of .7846 mills, but was reduced to .7625 mills from a tax rollback. Residents voted to renew at the old rate of .7846 mills.

The money raised from the millage will be used by the Wright-Tallmadge Fire Department for purchasing and maintaining fire equipment and paying for the day-to-day operations of the department.
