MICHIGAN, USA — Both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris were in Michigan this weekend, holding campaign rallies in multiple cities across the state.

Trump began his campaign blitz through the state Friday night in Traverse City, where he spoke late into the night after appearing a few hours after his originally scheduled time.

Trump then took the stage in Novi Saturday afternoon alongside Michigan Republican candidate for Senate former Rep. Mike Rogers.

In both rallies, Trump encouraged voters in Michigan to get out and take advantage of early voting while also noting the importance of election security. The former president also highlighting support from Arab-American voters in the Metro Detroit area, calling their support "historic" for a Republican candidate.

Trump put focus on the auto industry while in the state, pushing back against electric vehicle mandates and announcing a plan to make interest paid on car loans tax deductible.

In Traverse City, Trump told supporters that Republicans needed to win big this November.

"We have to bury the hatred and the lies and the avalanche, and we have to do it in an avalanche of votes. And every time you see a smear, every time you hear them attack, take the motivation to go out and vote, vote, vote," Trump said. "With your help. 11 days from now, we're going to win Michigan. We're going to defeat Kamala Harris and we're going to make America great again."

Vice President Harris spoke at a rally in Kalamazoo Saturday afternoon alongside former First Lady Michelle Obama and Michigan Senator Gary Peters.

Obama took the stage with Harris in an overflow section of the Wings Event Center to address a small crowd before moving into the main part of the arena and speaking to the rallygoers.

Obama compared the two candidates, claiming that Harris is being held to a higher standard.

"Can someone tell me why we are once again holding Kamala to a higher standard than her opponent? We expect her to be intelligent and articulate, to have a clear set of policies, to never show too much anger, to prove time and time again that she belongs," said Obama. "But for Trump, we expect nothing at all. No understanding of policy, no ability to put together a coherent argument, no honesty, no decency, no morals."

Harris took the stage a short time later contrasting herself from the former president, especially when it came to women's reproductive health. Harris claiming she will defend a woman's right to choose while saying that with a Trump presidency, the country could see a nation-wide ban on abortion.

"If there is a national abortion ban, nobody is safe. And that's why I so thank everybody for being here, knowing this is at stake for everybody and fighting for everybody's rights," Harris said.

Harris is set to be in Ann Arbor with her vice presidential pick, Tim Walz, to campaign on Monday.
