LANSING, Mich. — With Election Day only a few days away and early voting in Michigan wrapping up on Sunday, about one-third of active registered voters have already cast their ballot.
That's according to the Michigan Voting Dashboard, which was last updated Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9:28 a.m.
The dashboard shows that a total of 2,407,833 ballots have been cast between early voting and absentee voting. That's 33.1% of the 7,263,931 active registered voters in the state.
Early voting has already seen historic levels of participation this election with 627,647 people already casting ballots at one of the many in-person voting sites across the state.
And while absentee voting levels aren't as high as they were during the 2020 election, there still have been 1,780,186 absentee ballots returned of the 2,343,694 sent.
In West Michigan, voter turnout ahead of the election is trending similarly to the rest of the state. Kent and Ottawa counties have seen slightly higher turnout rates than the state, while Muskegon County is just short of the state's turnout rate so far in the early voting period.
