MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich — A stretch of Blackmer road between Ravenna and Coopersville will likely revert back to gravel after voters decided against a bond proposal that would repair the potholed road.

The bond proposal failed by a vote of 474 to 225 on Tuesday.

The road has long been a source of frustration for Muskegon and Ottawa county residents as it was littered with potholes.

The proposal was asking for the approval of a $3.2 million bond that would be used to repair and repave the road.

Now that the proposal failed, it is likely that the approximately three miles of Blackmer Road extending from Ellis Road south to Wilson Street will revert to gravel in the future.
